Mobile PDFMaps

Now you can have the Ridge and Valley Ride maps on your GPS-enabled Apple iPhone and iPad, and Android smartphone and tablet as you ride along!

Each map has been carefully georeferenced for use with your GPS-enabled device so you can follow your progress along the route, or find your way back to the route!

Each of the Loop Rides has been condensed into one page including the cues and description, and is now in full color. The Trail maps have been joined together to show each entire trail on one map, in color as well.

You can have each high-tech map for a song! Well, at least the same price as a song on the iTunes Store: $0.99 apiece.

What makes this all possible is Avenza Systems PDF Maps app. From their website at www.pdf-maps.com:

“PDF Maps is a mobile map application that enables you to download maps for offline use. Use your device’s built-in GPS to track your location on the map. Plot and record information about locations, import and export placemarks, measure distance and area, and even plot photos. You can easily browse and purchase maps from all over the world using the convenient in-app Avenza Map Store.”

So not only do they carry our maps, but a huge number of free and for-sale maps from the likes of USGS, the National Park Service, and National Geographic. You can browse their store via their website at http://www.pdf-maps.com/get-maps.

Here’s the web link to get PDF Maps, and a QR code for scanning with your device:

Once you get the app installed, you can browse and search for maps from the Store tab. Or, more easily, you can follow the links below and pick the map(s) you would like first, then download to your phone.

You will need an Apple or Google account with an ID and password, which you probably already have if you’ve been accessing the App Store or Google Play. Additionally, you will be asked if you want to register for a Avenza Map Store account, which is recommended if you want to use your purchased maps across several devices and some other good reason I can’t remember. After an activation hoop to jump through, you’re all set.

OK, on to the rides!
